Bucket List

Yesterday I was going through some old notebooks when I came across a list I made last year, my bucket list aka thing I want to do before I die. I remember watching this show on MTV last year called The Buried Life, which is the story of four guys who basically get one thing crossed off their bucket list in every episode and help others along the way. It's a great show and it inspired me to make a bucket list of my own. Some things on my list are really basic things (learn a new language) while others are a little more complicated to achieve (live in New York). Anyway, I was going through my list and noticed that I can actually cross a couple of thing off. Here are a few of them:

1. Ride an elephant

I got to fulfill this dream of mine in India last Christmas. It was every bit as awesome as I had imagined.


2. Learn how to surf

Okay, so maybe I'm not a pro yet, but surfing was definitely my kind of thing. I got to try it in California last summer.

3. Gamble in Vegas

Does putting one dollar in a slot machine count as gambling? Haha... Well anyway, I crossed that off my list because that's probably the only time I'm going to do it.

4. Learn to ride a motorcycle

 Last summer I decided to get a motorcycle license, which is something I wanted to do for a long time. I'm so happy I got the license because I can honestly say that driving a motorcycle is one of the most freeing feelings in the world.

Hopefully I'll get a few more thing crossed off my list this summer like moving abroad and going parachuting!
I recommend making a list. It's great way to keep track of your own dreams that you're accomplishing.

Bow-liiing!

Hadn't been bowling in a loong time, but finally got a chance to polish my skills (lol) last weekend with some friends. It was one of my friend's birthday that week, so she reserved a couple alleys and a bunch of us went. It's really fun going bowling at Lucky Strike, because it has a club-like vibe, plays good music, and serves drinks and food.

Marni at H&M

When I got home, I couldn't help but smile when I saw what was on my bed. 

After getting home at 6am from working the night shift, I put my alarm on for 10.45 because the Marni at h&m collection started selling at 11am. I opened h&m.com and the message 'Due to the interest in our latest designer collaboration, you are being placed in a queue. Please try again" kept popping up. An hour and a half later I could barely keep my eyes open any more and just gave up. A few hours later I went to try again and finally got through but the shoes I so wanted had been sold out (surprise surprise). I called my mom at work and asked if she could kindly go into one of the three h&m's in Finland that carry the collection and see if they miraculously still had a pair in my size. She agreed, but said she would do it in the evening after getting off work. Turns out she had gotten the last pair in my size! 

They're perfect! They're so much like these other Marni saw I wanted a few years back but couldn't find anywhere. They are super high but pretty comfortable. I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can wear them!

Women's Day!

Happy Women's Day to all the wonderful women everywhere! You are ALL beautiful, priceless and important! I really love being a women and I enjoy this holiday. I remember last year, it was funny because my significant other who is from the States had never heard about it and thought I was making it up. I really haven't seen or heard anyone talking about Women's Day here in the States, even though I thought it was an International holiday? Maybe not. I was still happy when he remembered it, bought me flowers, and took me out to dinner and shopping.

Women's day is a great opportunity for women to enjoy all the things that women can do: be feminine, use pretty clothes, pamper themselves and whatever feels good! It's also nice when men acknowledge women on this day.

I started off my Women's Day by going to get a laser treatment. I'm so excited that I finally started doing the laser hair removal to all the parts I don't like hair growth in. My hair is very thick, since I'm half Nigerian, and it grows fast in certain areas. Also, since I have such a low tolerance for pain, waxing and sugaring have been so painful and inconvenient for the past years. I started a 1-year treatment for my underarms and brazilian bikini area, and those are the only two areas that really bother me so I'm really happy!

I'll be coming here every 5 weeks for the next year.

Also had a great yoga sculpt class & now time for dinner!

Chocolate Cupcakes

With my crazy work schedule, it's ridiculous how little I actually see my family, considering I still live at home. There are weeks (evening shifts especially) when I only see them on the weekends and that's really unfortunate because my family is really important to me. I thought saturday would be a great day to correct the situation and have a "family day".

I started my day by making breakfast for my family and a walk with my dog.

Then my brother and I decided to bake some cupcakes. I found this recipe for chocolate cupcakes using Daim chocolate (one of my favorites) from this great baking blog called Kinuskikissa, so we decided to try it out. We also made carrot cupcakes. Heres the recipe for the chocolate cupcakes:

Daim Cupcakes (makes about 15 cupcakes)                                     

• 200 g Daim chocolate (or which ever you prefer)
• 150 g butter
• 1 ½ dl sugar
• 2 eggs
• 3 ½ dl flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 2 ½ tbsp cocoa powder
• 1 ½ dl milk or cream

Chocolate Frosting 

• 120 g unsweetened chocolate
• 150 g butter (room temperature)
• 150 g confectioners sugar (sifted)
• 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract

1. Beat the butter and the sugar together to form a light mixture.

2. Beat in the eggs one at a time.

3. In another bowl mix the dry ingredients.

4. Grate 100 g of the chocolate.

5. Combine the wet & the dry ingredients.

6. Add the grated chocolate into the mixture.

7. Put a spoonful of the mixture into the muffin pan. Put a piece of chocolate in the midde and then top off with more dough.

8. Bake in 225 celsius (430 fahrenheit) for 12-15 minutes.

9. To make the frosting, melt the chocolate in a bowl placed in a saucepan of hot water. Let cool to room temperature.

10. In a bowl, beat the butter until smooth. Add the sugar and beat until fluffy. Add in vanilla & chocolate. Beat until smooth.

Later on we went to watch the movie Hugo. I've heard so many good things about it so I had to go see it.  The movie is based on a book and it's about a orphan boy that lives in a clock tower in Paris. After he's father passes away he tries to solve his mystery. The movie was really interesting and I loved the way it had been shot, the scenes were really beautiful. I can recommend it to everyone.

My Surprise Prezzy!

I loove surprises and was so happy to see a package in my mail box. It was my (belated) birthday present from my sister and I was so excited as I opened it..it has all my favorite things in it!

This was what was inside:

My new dress that my sis made for me.

I absolutely love the dress! The color, coral, is one of my favorites and the dress was exactly my size, which is awesome! I also really like the sleeve. The dress is perfect for the summer.

A card she made

When I saw this painting, I thought my sister had bought it from India, without me knowing. I saw this exact painting in a store in India and I was thinking of buying it, but I didn't because I had already bought another one. My sister had taken a picture and painted it for me. So talented and I would've never known it wasn't made by the original artist!

I love this guardian angel pendant that she sent to look over me <3

"Yellow balls", my favorite candy in the whole wide world!!! They have chocolate and liquorish inside. Läkerol is also another favorite candy, which is not really a candy..it's sugar-free.
